This site is dedicated to the memory of Papa Hall.

Papa was born in Fresno, California on 10 September 1915 and passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on 29 August 2007 at the age of 91. He was much loved and his life and legacy are celebrated by his family and the many others whose lives he touched. He is survived by a son, Kenneth G. Hall of Vicksburg, Mississippi and his wife, Cathey; and three daughters: Carol Marshall of Kuwait City, Kuwait; Taffy Jeffers of Longview, Texas and her husband, Steve; Susan Everts of Fort Worth, Texas and her husband, Frank; and seventeen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Upon graduation from Fresno High School in 1932, Chester was employed by R.G. LeTourneau Inc. as blueprint boy, draftsman engineer, design engineer, and later, chief design engineer, designing revolutionary electrical powered earth moving equipment and offshore drilling rigs for LeTourneau in Stockton, California; Peoria, Illinois; Toccoa, Georgia and Longview, Texas. In 1976 he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was employed by I.H.C. Holland and Baker Marine developing offshore jack-up rigs. He traveled extensively in the Netherlands (for I.H.C. Holland) and Singapore (with Baker Marine). He retired in March 1995 and moved to Vicksburg, Mississipi to live with his son. In December 2004, he moved to an Alzheimer’s care facility in Fort Worth, Texas. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Longview Texas at 3 p.m. on Saturday 8 September.
